Proofing Systems Deserve as Much Attention as Possible

Details are critically important. At James Printing, we regard our proofing systems as one of the most important cogs in the print production process. That’s why this step should be given as much care and attention as possible.

Here are a few considerations to keep in mind for your project during the proofing stages:

* Help Us Help You: Double checking electronic files prior to sending them to James Printing can save a great deal of time and aggravation. Common errors include missing fonts and graphic components. Make sure you send us the latest version of your layout files and images. Consolidate all necessary files into easy-to-find folders and flag any potential problems. Include proofs, previously printed work, folding dummies and anything else that might head off problems before they occur.

* You’ll Have Proofs: After our prepress technicians work on your file, you’ll receive a color accurate proof in 24 to 48 hours. You’ll also receive a mechanically accurate proof so you will know what the piece will look like after folding, die cutting, saddle stitching or whatever post press options you require. We use Epson 10000 and 10600 digital proofers supported by the Oris color management system. Both devices are carefully calibrated to our presses so what you see on the proof will match what you see later on press. Be sure to allow plenty of time for the proofs to be reviewed. Once the proof has been reviewed, allow time for any corrections to be made. The turnaround period here is usually 24 hours.

* Another Set of Eyes: James Printing knows how important it is having another set of eyes proofread your projects. Our proofreaders thoroughly examine your work and routinely make important catches in the copy. Having more than one level of proofreading available is invaluable.
